Lady Josephine Nwaeze, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria’s frontline and leading power and electrical engineering firm, News Engineering Nigeria Limited, led the Board and Management of the company on a congratulatory visit to the new President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), ENGR. TASIU WUDIL, FNSE, at the NSE headquarters, Abuja.

Joining the President to receive the delegation were the Deputy President of NSE, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, and other Executive members.

Speaking at the event, News Engineering Managing Director, Lady Josephine congratulated Engr. Wudil, a seasoned and highly resourceful professional, on his well deserved election as the President of NSE.

According to Lady Josephine, who was present at Engr. Wudil’s inauguration, “your speech at your inauguration, quite exhaustive and thought provoking, harped on an issue of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Executive Order 5 which is quite important for the growth of the industry and the professionals, especially in the areas of procurement and local capacity development. I believe the industry must embrace it and see to the implementation”

Speaking further, Lady Josephine referenced the Accelerated Transmission-Distribution Interface project funded by the Central Bank of NIGERIA, and was designed for Nigerian companies and meant to cushion the effects of COVID 19 pandemic as well as the recession on the indigenous companies. Sadly, she said, many of such projects were still being awarded to foreign companies.

“Since the spirit of the order is to develop local capacity and make local industry viable, the deviation we see today is quite disturbing” she added.

Meanwhile, the News ENGINEERING managing director believes that with the leadership of Engr. Wudil, who has been known to be a highly professional and cerebral personality, things can only get better.

News ENGINEERING, with tested professionals on board, has for 39 years and counting, been building capacity accross the engineering value chain while delivering world class projects. The Managing Director pledged that the company will continue to partner with NSE in any areas and initiative that are beneficial, including the promotion of STEM education.

In his response, the NSE President, Engr. Wudil, thanked the News Engineering Managing Director and her team for finding time to pay the very important courtesy visit which will go a long way in adding value to his presidency.

He agreed totally with the need to see to the full implementation of Executive Order 5 which is expected to promote local capacity through engineering procurement and projects in Nigeria. He promised to look into ways and strategies that will see to its implementation.

Speaking further, Engr. Wudil sought the support of News Engineering in the employment of more engineers, especially lecturers that may want to work during holiday period as a way of deepening professionalism in engineering sector. He also spoke on the issues of corporate social responsibility in communities and rural development where NSE could work together with News Engineering.

He further encouraged the managing director to take advantage of the “Firm” membership window of NSE for News Engineering. He said this will give the company the opportunity to leverage on the Association that has strong relationship with engineering bodies across Africa and the world for business opportunities.

Engr. Wudil also stressed that News Engineering should continue to encourage engineers working in the company.
