
Lagos to unveil e-platform for informal sector tax regularisation
Acknowledging that over 65 per cent of traders are engaged in informal trade, the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), has announced plans to roll out an e-platform in March, to bring onboard the sector into its tax net.
The LIRS Chairman, Hamzat Subair, said the e-platform is an all-encompassing platform that would capture the informal sector online and in real-time into the LIRS database.
Subair, represented by the Assistant Director, Informal Sector, LIRS, Tola Seriki, spoke at a breakfast meeting organised by the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) tagged “Tax and Revenue Generation: The Lagos State Approach.”
