FG grants N22.3 billion tax credit to Dangote Cement

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the issuance of tax credit certificates valued at N22.321 billion to Dangote Cement Plc. The tax credit certificates were for the construction of Apapa-Oworonshoki-Ojota road in Lagos and the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road that goes through Kogi and Kwara States. This disclosure was made by the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Muhammad Nami, who was represented by the Coordinating Director, Tax Operations Group, FIRS, Femi Oluwaniyi, at the certificates presentation event to Dangote Cement. Smile Telecoms Holdings Ltd. (Smilecoms.com), a Pan-African telecommunications group with operations in Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, announced today, March 30th 2021 that its RP (Restructuring Plan) has been approved and agreed with the lenders. This debt restructuring plan sees an injection in fresh money funding from Smile's majority shareholder, the Al Nahla, and rescheduling on debt repayment until post-March 2022. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration has disbursed a total sum of N3.736 billion in February as against the N3.8 billion shared in January 2021.   The money was disbursed to the six area councils and other stakeholders in the territory as their share of statutory allocation.  The figures show a shortfall of over N.088 billion in the February allocation.  FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, disclosed this at the 151st Joint area Council Allocation Committee (JAAC) chaired by the Minister in Abuja, yesterday.  She was represented by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola.   A breakdown of the figures indicates that N2.08 billion was made available for distribution to the six area councils while the N1.7 billion went to other stakeholders, bringing the...

The Federal Government disclosed a plan to commit $3 billion to the power sector in the next two years. The spending is expected to raise the current 4,900 megawatts (MWs) to at least 7,000MWs. This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Infrastructure, Ahmad Zakari, during a virtual meeting organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
